How to Clean Cork

Because all cork is water resistant, it is recommended to use a mild soap and warm water to wash your pieces when the need arises.  Let the item air dry and you are good to go!

Cork is made from the bark of cork oak trees and is a sustainable, durable product. All of our cork is dyed naturally without the use of harsh chemicals.  Our cork jewelry however is not indestructible.  The cork will show normal wear and tear with use over time which can include wear of the coloring.  This is not considered a defect in the product.  The wearing process will occur faster if you expose the cork to water regularly, are one to wear the same jewelry constantly, wear this while putting on lotion, perfumes, or hairspray or have an occupation that the jewelry will constantly be rubbing against something.

All of our cork jewelry is tarnish resistant.  You can use a regular jewelry polish cloth to polish the metal components of our cork jewelry if needed.

Benefits of Cork

There is no denying that one of the best qualities of using cork is that is a great vegan leather and cruelty freealternative.  Some of the other important benefits are:

  • Eco-Friendly-  Minimum impact on the environment

  • Sustainable- The majority of the world's cork comes from Portugal.  The cork is stripped from the cork  oak trees every 9-12 years and do no damage to the tree itself.  This allows the trees to grow to be up to 200 years old.  The trees are marked so that overstripping does not occur.  The stripping also promotes hardy growth.

  • Water Resistant-  Cork is water resistant whereas leather products are not waterproof and tend to wear and create odor when exposed

  • Easy to Clean- Easily cleaned with a light dish soap and warm water.  Let air dry afterwards.

  • Hypoallergenic-  The cork itself is resistant to allergens and mold while the metal components in our designs, are also hypoallergenic.

  • A beautiful and unique product
